Campground Guidelines

Our Mission Statement:  to provide an enjoyable urban camping experience to guests amidst a natural legacy, while protecting Canada’s biodiversity and the wonder of Newfoundland and Labrador’s natural way of life.

Welcome to the Waterford River Valley Campgrounds.  Our campground is newly established and will continue to expand through the summer and fall of 2019.  We are currently in Phase One of at least three stages of constructing and preserving this camping oasis in Mount Pearl.  We are a family-oriented park and the following rules will ensure that all guests have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Please review our rules and help make everyone’s stay a rewarding experience!

CHECK – IN 12:00 noon.   CHECK- OUT 10:00 a.m.    All campers and visitors must check in at the office upon arrival and receive a vehicle pass.

SPEED LIMIT: The speed limit on the property is 10 km/h.   Please pay attention to your fellow campers, children, and pets.

QUIET TIME:  10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.  During these hours, please be considerate of your fellow campers.  Loud music and parties at the camping site itself are not permitted at any time of day. Parents are responsible for the conduct and safety of their children and must ensure they remain on their campsite by 11:00 PM.

VISITORS:  Guests are responsible for the behavior of everyone on their site.  Should your visitors violate the established rules, the entire booking will be revoked, and you will be requested to leave the site.  There is no refund for evictions. Visitors that become a disturbance to campsite neighbours will be immediately requested to leave. All visitors must park in the parking area.  No vehicles are to park on the main roads within the campground.

PETS: Pets must always be on a maximum six (6) foot leash length and must be current on all vaccines. Pets may not be left outside when owners are away from their site, nor may be left inside an RV or tent unattended.  Excessive barking, growling, or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. Other than service dogs, pets are not allowed in buildings. Please clean up after your pet and properly dispose of all pet waste/litter in proper receptacles.

FIRE PITS: Fire pits will be available from the convenience store.  Only firewood is permitted to be burned on the site; waste must be responsibly disposed of and according to the available receptacles.  Waterford River Valley Campground follows the fire regulations of the provincial forestry unit and the City of Mount Pearl. Fireplaces are designed for campfires only, not bonfires, so please do not overload.

CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL AND CANNABIS:  No open alcohol is permitted outside of your campground site.  Cannabis can be consumed only within your campsite. No alcohol nor cannabis consumption is allowed on main roads, parking lots or any public area in the park.

USE OF FOUL LANGUAGE:  Waterford River Valley Campground is a family-oriented facility and, as a courtesy to your neighbours, please ensure that your language is respectful and restrained from foul language.  Use of abusive and foul language directed to other guests, visitors or staff will not be tolerated.

RECREATIONAL VEHICLES:  No ATVs will be permitted in the campground.  ATV’s are also not permitted on the nearby Grand Concourse T’railway since the section is designated for pedestrian and cycling use.

SEWAGE DISPOSAL:  In an effective effort to protect and manage our land and water, there are four dump stations available.  With this environmental protection in place, there will be no individual sewer hookups on any campsites. We will assist any trailer or RV that wishes to be pumped out and who stay for a minimum 3-day period. If you stay for less than three nights and require assistance, a small fee of $20.00 will be charged for the use of grey and black holding tanks. We also have a certified honey wagon designed for proper sewage removal, available for a separate fee of $20.00.  The guest must be present when the discharge occurs. The fees can be paid in advance through the Reception; a slip will be issued and collected at the time of service.

RESERVATION / PAYMENT POLICY:  A non-refundable deposit (first night fee plus 15% HST) is required to confirm your reservation. Unless a reservation is for 30 days’ duration or longer, staff will not be able to confirm site numbers prior to customer check-in.  This is to avoid any misunderstandings should staff need to move a reservation to another site to optimize campground usage.

REFUNDS:  Since camping is an outdoor experience and we are unable to modify the vagaries of climate, no refunds or credits provided due to the discomfort of nature.  No refunds or credits will be made for early departures.

CANCELLATION POLICY:  There will be a $10.00 charge for each night of the original reservation, in addition to the forfeit of the reservation deposit, in the event of a cancellation. Reservations may be cancelled up to 14 days prior to scheduled arrival, without further charge.

RV /TRAILER SITES:  All sites will have water hook up, a picnic table and 30-amp electrical set-up.  Over the course of construction, some sites will be upgraded to 50-amp service. There will be no sewer hook-up, please see our Sewage Disposal note above.

TENT SITES: Designated tent sites will be not be serviced.  There will be potable water available, and rustic and remote sites will be available at different stages during our phases of construction.

DECKS, LIGHTING, and SIGNAGE:  Our campsites are beautiful in themselves. Temporary decking, signage, and lighting installed without prior approval from the management of the Waterford River Valley Campground or that encroach on any green or forest space are not permitted.  Items such as satellite dishes or extra equipment must remain on the campsite pads, and discreetly hidden.

WASTE MANAGEMENT:  Please dispose of your garbage in the bins provided and recycle your cans and bottles. We encourage you to compost and compost bins will be available.  “It’s in our Nature” is the cornerstone of our mission to reduce our footprint on the environment. Recycling facilities will continue to expand as we continue growing.

SERVICE CHALETS: The service chalets will have gender-neutral washrooms and showers, laundry facilities and vending machines for the use of guests of the park.

TUCK SHOP:  The Tuck Shop is located at the Reception area and operating hours will be posted.  Essentials will be available including firewood and some food staples. Any transactions in the Tuck Shop will be done electronically, as there will be no cash on the premises.
